Chico Outlaws News Release

The Chico Outlaws lost 7-5 to the Yuma Scorpions on Sunday night at Desert Sun Stadium in Yuma, ending the first half at 33-12 overall and losing for the first time all season on consecutive days. The loss also marked the first time all year the Outlaws have lost a series against an opponent, with the Scorps taking the series two games to one.

David Dinelli (1-1) took the loss for Chico, surrendering seven runs, four earned, on seven hits in two and a third innings in his first start of the year. Dinelli walked three hitters and struck out two.

Six Outlaws pitchers pitched a combined five and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief, allowing just one hit and striking out six.

Yuma got two runs in the first, three in the second and two in the third, but it was enough to get by the Outlaws and earn their first win of the second half.

Santo DeLeon hit a two-run homerun in the first for Yuma, while Tim Rodriguez also got into the act for the Scorpions with a solo shot in the second inning.

The Outlaws got a run in the second inning on a Pascual Del Real RBI double, but didn't score again until the sixth inning when rookie third baseman Adam Gordon recorded his first professional hit, a two RBI double to make it a 7-3 game.

Despite solo runs in the seventh and eighth innings, the Outlaws could not erase the final two run deficit as Jordan Muir of the Scorpions came out of the bullpen to record his third save of the year.

Dan Ramos-Dominko (1-0) picked up his first win of the year for Yuma in relief.

Yuma improved 28-18 on the year as they await the winner of the Maui-Victoria game scheduled for later tonight on the Valley Isle to see if they will win the GBL South first half crown.

The Outlaws will have three days off for the All Star break before starting a three game homestand against Victoria on Thursday, July 15th at the Nett. First pitch is set for 7:05 pm.

The game can be watched live on line at www.justin.tv.com/chicooutlawsbaseball as Dan Hawkins brings you all the action on the Outlaws Baseball Network.

OUTLAWS NOTES: Second baseman Bobby Hill continues his torrid hitting, going 16 for 25 with a homer and 6 RBIs on the road trip....the seven pitchers used by Chico was a season high in that department.
