Edmonton Capitals News Release
Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Capitals are just one victory away from setting a new Golden Baseball League record for consecutive wins - but that doesn't mean they don't have time to help develop young players from the Edmonton area.
The Caps are currently riding an impressive 12-game winning streak, and are one win short of the GBL record of 13 games. They wrapped up a five-game homestand against the Tijuana Cimarrones on Saturday, sweeping the series with a 4-2 decision.
The Caps (28-15) don't play again until Thursday because of the GBL all-star break and will go for the new league winning streak record at home on Thursday at 7 p.m. for the first game of a seven-game homestand. They battle the Yuma Scorpions July 15-18, and then the Cimarrones are back in town July 19-21.
In the meantime, the Caps are hosting their second installment of the Capitals Summer Camps presented by St. Francis Xavier Baseball Academy for local players between the ages of six and 16, starting on Wednesday. The team is inviting area media out for this photo opportunity, and to speak with Caps players about the camp and their winning streak.
