Chico Outlaws News Release
ZION, IL - A two-run homer from Adam Buschini snapped a 4-4 tie in the seventh, and the Chico Outlaws held on for a 7-5 win over the Lake County Fielders on Sunday afternoon in the series finale. The victory is the fifth straight for Chico over Lake County, after the Fielders took the series opener. It also is the longest winning streak of the year for the Outlaws.
Bushcini got the Outlaws on the board first in the third, as he blooped a double down the left field line to score Danny Gonzalez. Lake County answered right back with four runs in the bottom of the inning, capped off by a three run blast off the bat of Mark Samuelson.
It would remain 4-1 until the fifth, when the Outlaws scored three to tie it. Pat Terry scored on a wild pitch by Lake County starter Julio Medina, Danny Gonzalez drove in Jonny Bravo with a sac-fly, and Chris Lubanski brought Buschini home with an RBI infield single. Gonzalez and Lubanski each had two hits and an RBI in the ballgame. Al Quintana also had a couple hits for the Outlaws.
Buschini, who had three hits and three RBI in the game, blasted his fifth homerun on a 3-2 pitch from Lake County relief pitcher Trenton Lee in the seventh. Brad Agustin cut the lead to one with a solo shot in the bottom of the inning, but Kurt Steinhauer belted a solo shot of his own for Chico in the ninth to give the Outlaws an insurance run.
Jonny Bravo (3-3) pitched six strong innings for Chico to earn the win, scattering eight hits and giving up four runs, with no walks and two strikeouts. Travis Kane pitched two innings in relief and Jake Muyco struck out the side in the ninth to pick up his second save. Lee (1-1) took the loss for Lake County.
The Outlaws finished the season series against Lake County at 9-3. They have the day off Monday before playing a double header in Orland against the Maui Na Koa Ikaika on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. Pacific.
