San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, Texas---The Colts continue to take care of business at home as they hand the Edinburg Roadrunners a 10-2 defeat. The win is number 23 at home and 31 on the year. San Angelo is now on pace to win over 60 games on the season
The Colts would find themselves in an unusual position to start off the game, as they were staring at a 0-2 deficit going in to the fifth inning. That would quickly change. Second baseman Danny Hernandez would score the first run on the contest for the Colts in the bottom of the fifth inning as centerfielder Ronnie Gaines would send a fly ball deep enough to left field to allow Hernandez to score. Then two batters later, Colts first baseman Daryl Jones (19) would send a three run shot to the Colts bullpen that sits just beyond the left field fence to give San Angelo a 4-2 lead. The Colts would add one in the sixth and five more in the seventh inning.
Colts righty Brian Henschel (4-5, 5.26) would go 7 innings, allowing 2 runs off 6 hits walking 2 and striking out 3. Henschel is the all time strikeout leader for the Colts with 318, and the all time wins leader with 37 career victories with San Angelo. Toro Trevino (4-2, 4.66) would pick up his second loss on the season as he went 6 innings allowing 5 runs off 6 hits walking 3 and striking out 7.
Tomorrow night, the Colts look to make it three in a row against Edinburg. Come on out to Foster Field as Monday night is "Haircut at the Ballpark" courtesy of SportsClips. Fans can receive five dollar haircuts all night long. Gates open at 6:00pm and first pitch is at 7:05.
