DENVER - The Denver Outlaws (5-7) fell to the first place New York Lizards (10-2) Thursday by a score of 18-15 at Shuart Stadium in Uniondale, N.Y. The Lizards carried a 10-5 lead into halftime--followed up by a 45-minute rain delay--and held on despite the Outlaws rallying for 10 second half points.

The Lizard's Greg Gurenlian dominated at the faceoff X, winning 30-of-35 faceoffs against Outlaws veterans Anthony Kelly and Geoff Snider to set single-season records for faceoff wins and ground balls.
New York struck quickly, kicking off a five-goal run to open the game before Denver replied with their first score of the night. After trading goals to start the second quarter, New York led a three-goal run, aided by three Denver penalties, to earn a 10-5 lead at the half. The Lizards outscored the Outlaws 5-3 for the second straight quarter in the third. Denver finally found their rhythm in the fourth quarter, outscoring New York 7-3, including a three-goal run within 1:35 to cut narrow the gap to 17-13.
