New York Lizards News Release

Uniondale, NY (July 9th, 2015) - Rain or shine, nothing was going to stop the New York Lizards from reaching their 10th win of the season against the Denver Outlaws. Carrying the lead throughout the game, the Lizards beat the Outlaws 18-15. This win for New York clinches their regular season title and the number one seed.

Rob Pannell led the team with a seven point game consisting of five goals and two assists. JoJo Marasco and Tommy Palasek both notched a hat trick. Greg "Beast" Gurenlian put up yet another great face-off win percentage at 86 percent going 30-for-35.

It did not take long for the New York Lizards to get points on the board. Within the first five seconds of the game, Gurenlian won the face off and scored the first goal. The Lizards kept dominance of the ball for most of quarter allowing for them to score four more times. Two goals from Palasek, a goal and an assist from Pannell, and a single goal scored by Marasco gave the Lizards a strong lead. As the quarter winded down, the Denver Outlaws snuck in two goals bringing the score to 5-2.

The second quarter was filled with back and forth action from both teams. Within the first 10 minutes, each team netted two goals. The Lizards then had three back-to-back goals courtesy of Ryan Walsh and Paul Rabil. Walsh had two goals and Rabil brought in the third during a power play. A last minute goal by Denver ended the first half with a score of 10-5.

After a 45-minute lightning delay, Steve DeNapoli kicked off the second half with a goal assisted by Rabil. Pannell threw in two more goals and an assist. Both Marasco and Rabil added to the score with individual goals. The Outlaws tried to catch up by bringing in three goals throughout the third.

The final quarter was what seemed to be Denver's fight for redemption. The Outlaws had seven goals within the 15 minutes. Marasco, Palasek, and Pannell continued to wow the crowd by each contributing a goal to seal the deal for the Lizards.
