Outlaws Fall 16-4 to Toros

June 11, 2009 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Chico Outlaws News Release

In their first lopsided loss of the season, the Outlaws were quadrupled by the Tucson Toros tonight, losing 16-4.

The Toros scored in each of the first four innings, and held an 11-1 lead heading into the fifth. Darrick Hale gave the Outlaws some life, as he blasted a two-run home-run over the old scoreboard in right-center. Hale's second home-run of the season made the score 11-3 and the Outlaws hadn't made an out in the fifth. But, Tucson starter and former Major Leaguer Lorenzo Barcelo would quell the Outlaw bats for the next three innings, and the Outlaws would not draw any closer.

Barcelo went 7 innings for the victory, as the right-hander remained perfect on the season, improving to 4-0 and notching his second victory against Chico. Outlaws starter Andrew Alvarado had a tough night, leaving early in the ballgame after giving up six runs.

The loss sets up a rubber-match in the three game series on Thursday night. It'll be a getaway day for both teams, as the Outlaws will return home with the weekend idle, and Tucson will hit the road for the first time on the season when they venture to St. George. The Outlaws are looking to snap a two-series losing streak, and improve on their 4-2 record against the Toros before Tucson visits Chico next Tuesday for a three game set.

Tickets for the remaining games can be purchased at the Stadium Box Office, by calling 345-3210, at our downtown office located at 308 Salem Street. For further information please visit ChicoOutlaws.com.
