Outfielder Jon Matthews Joins Dragons

DAYTON, OHIO-The Dayton Dragons announced the following roster changes today:

Outfielder Jon Matthews has been assigned to Dayton from Bakersfield (Advanced-A, California League).

Catcher Julio Morillo has been assigned from Dayton to Billings (Pioneer League).

The Dragons roster remains at the Midwest League limit of 25 players.

Matthews has appeared in 13 games with Bakersfield this season, batting .333 with no home runs, four runs batted in, and seven stolen bases. He appeared in 12 games for the Dragons last season, batting .244 with no home runs, five RBI, and five stolen bases. Matthews spent most of last season with Billings, batting .292 in 46 games with three home runs, eight RBI, and 22 stolen bases. Matthews was the Reds sixth round draft pick in 2011 out of St. Petersburg College. He is a native of Marietta, Georgia.

Morillo appeared in four games for the Dragons, going 4 for 13 (.308) with three RBI.

In a related move, Bakersfield activated former Dragons outfielder Jesse Winker from the disabled list (concussion).
