Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
An inability to convert on power play chances coupled with three shorthanded goals against hurt the Waterloo Black Hawks dearly Friday in a 7-2 loss while visiting the Tri City Storm in Kearney, Nebraska.
Jaden Schwartz had two goals and three assists for the Storm, including a goal and a helper while shorthanded. Four other Tri City players turned in multipoint performances, while Carsen Chubak turned away 35 Black Hawk chances. The Storm scored three times in the opening period, holding a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes. A Schwartz marker was the only tally in the second, before Tri City found the net three more times in the third.
Waterloo was 0-for-14 on the power play, including two five-on-three's and more than ten minutes worth of the second period on an advantage. Zach Palmquist notched a shorthanded goal in the first for the Hawks and Tyler Barnes added the final tally of the game late in the third.
The Black Hawks cap their pre-Christmas schedule Friday in Des Moines at 7:05.
