
Otters let one slip away

Logan Couture scored twice to ignite a five-goal explosion as the Ottawa 67's topped the Erie Otters 6-4 in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 5,601 at the Tullio Arena. The 5,601 in attendance matched the second largest regular season crowd in Otters franchise history. Corey Cowick, Cody Lindsay, Thomas Kiriakou and Stephen Blunden also scored for the 67's, who trailed 4-1 midway through the second period but scored the final five goals for the victory. Ottawa improved to 34-20-5-2 with the win. Sean Jones paced the Otters with a pair of goals. Luke Gazdic and Brett Cook also scored. Erie dropped to 30-27-3-1 with the loss. The Otters led 2-1 after one and built a 4-1 lead by the midway point of the second. Ottawa scored two late power-play goals to close to within one by the end of the second and added the only three goals of the third for the victory. Ottawa out shot the Otters 34-28 in the game as Shane Owen started and took the loss. The three stars of the game were 1. Couture; 2. Jones and 3. Kiriakou.
The Otters complete weekend action tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon against the Plymouth Whalers in a special 4:30 p.m. start at the Tullio Arena presented by Allen Insurance. The first 500 children (12 and under) into the game receive an Otters Autograph Book and a Meet and Greet with the players will follow the game.
