LONDON, Ont. - John Tavares and Phil Varone each scored twice to lead the London Knights to a 6-2 win over the Erie Otters in Game 5 of their Western Conference Quarterfinal Series played tonight in front of 9,090 at the John Labatt Centre. London won the best-of-seven series 4-1. Justin Taylor and Leigh Salters also scored for the Knights while John Carlson collected three assists. Sean Jones and Mike Cazzola scored for the Otters. London led 2-0 after one. The Otters tied the game with two goals in the opening three-and-a-half minutes of the second only to see the Knights answer with two power-play goals midway through the period to carry a 4-2 advantage into the third. The Knights out shot the Otters 52-38 in the game as Jaroslav Janus took the loss. The three stars of the game were all from the Knights. Tavares was the first; Carlson the second and goaltender Trevor Cann the third.
