
Otters Double up Rangers 4-2

The Erie Otters skated to a 4-2 win over the Kitchener Rangers before a crowd of 6,446 at The Aud.
Michael Catenacci scored the game opening goal off a feed through the crease from Jason Akeson. The goal came on a Kitchener power play at the 8:50 mark of the first period to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead. Erie's Phil Varone tied the game at 1-1 with 4:32 left in the period.
Shawn Szydlowski scored over the glove of Brandon Maxwell at 2:21 of the second to put the Otters up 2-1. David Broll increased Erie's lead 3-1 with his eighth goal of the season at the 4:57 mark.
The Rangers Cody Sol made it a one goal game at 7:58 of the third period after capitalizing on a three man rush. Greg McKegg secured a 4-2 win for Erie with an empty net goal at 19:50.
The Rangers travel to Brampton on Sunday, January 9th for a 2:00pm game versus the Battalion. They return to home ice on Friday, January 14th to host the Peterborough Petes. Game time is 7:30 pm.
