Otters and Knights play to tie

ST. THOMAS, Ont. - Shawn Szydlowski scored with under five minutes remaining in regulation to lift the Erie Otters into a 2-2 tie with the London Knights in an Ontario Hockey League pre-season game played tonight. Sean Jones netted the other goal for the Otters, while Jaroslav Janus turned aside 38 of the 40 shots he faced in a complete game effort. Erie moved to 0-3-1 in exhibition play. Scott Aarsen and Christian Thomas scored for the Knights (2-0-1). London led 2-1 after the first and second periods. Erie's final pre-season game takes place Thursday (September 11th) when they travel to Niagara to face the IceDogs in a 7:30 p.m. contest.

The Otters 2008-09 Season Opener takes place Friday, September 19th when they travel to London to face off against the Knights in a 7:30 p.m. contest. The game can be heard live on FOX Sports Radio AM 1330 The FAN and on line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company) beginning with the pre-game show at 7:15 p.m.

The Otters 2008-09 Home Opener will be played on Saturday, September 27th when the defending OHL Champion Kitchener Rangers visit the Tullio Arena for a 7 p.m. start presented by Taco Bell. Tickets for the game, as well as the remaining 33 home games, are available at the Civic Center Box Office, all Erie-area Ticketmaster locations or on-line at www.ottershockey.com.
