Ottawa Voyageurs News Release

With less than a month before Opening Day, the Ottawa Rapids roster continues to expand as the team announces the signing of two players. Maxime Bouchard and Jereme Milons are the two newest addition to the Ottawa Rapids.

Maxime Bouchard, a 22-year-old catcher, is a former prospect in the New York Mets organization. The 6'1", 214-pound athlete can also serve as an infielder and outfielder. Last year, the Louiseville, QC native played with the Gulf Coast League Mets. His presence gives the Rapids another left-handed batter on the roster.

"No doubt in my mind that Maxime will be a solid backup catcher for this organization," says Ed Nottle, Rapids field manager. "I'm happy we could get such a player right in our backyard."

Jereme Milons comes to the Rapids after 6 years in the Minors. The 25-year-old outfielder played last year with the Visalia Oaks, the Class-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Starkville, MS native has shown good offensive skills since being drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2001. A .280 career-hitter, Jereme gives the Rapids a good mix of power and speed.

"This is a big park and a top flight center fielder was a must. Jereme can flat go get the ball and he is an established .300 hitter in professional baseball," says Mr. Nottle. "I have spent over a month in acquiring Jereme, and I'm happy to add him to the Ottawa Rapids 2008 roster."

Tryouts for those with college or professional experience will be held on May 8th at the Ottawa Stadium.
