American Defenders of New Hampshire News Release
(Nashua, N.H., June 20, 2008) Ottawa Rapidz starting pitcher Adam Hawes was fantastic en route to his second win of the season (2-3), going seven innings, allowing two runs, on four hits, one walk and eight strike outs. The Rapidz went on to beat the Pride 9-2 in the first game of a three game series at Historic Holman Stadium.
Ottawa pounded out fifteen hits against the Pride, who committed four errors in the game, including three in the top of the fifth inning. The Rapidz scored three runs (one earned) in that frame, which was all they would need.
Rapidz right fielder Pete Pirman finished his night 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Left fielder Jereme Milons and third baseman Felix Escanola each homered in the game. Milons went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI, while Escanola was 2-for-5 with one RBI.
The Pride received a pair of solo home runs in the game, one from right fielder Jeremy Pickrel, his team leading fourth of the season. Bryan Duplissie hit his third homer of the year; both he and Pickrel are now tied for the team lead with 17 RBI each.
Pride Starter Lance Stevens suffered the loss (3-2), lasting six innings, giving up five runs (three earned), on nine hits, two walks and six strike outs. Reliever Mike Joyce was tagged for four runs in two innings of work.
Nashua will host Ottawa for game two of the three game set on Saturday at 7:05pm, when Nicolas Suero (1-2) gets the start for the Pride. Orlando Trias is set to get the ball for the Rapidz.
The Nashua Pride Professional Baseball Club, entering its 11th season, provides a fun, affordable, community-based and fan-friendly source of sports entertainment.
