Ottawa BlackJacks Sign American Guard Teyvon Myers

The Ottawa BlackJacks of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Saturday that American guard Teyvon Myers has signed with the Club for the remainder of the 2022 CEBL season.

A six-foot-two guard from Brooklyn, New York, Myers has averaged 15.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 27.0 minutes in 157 professional games in Hungary, France, Germany, Sweden, and Cyprus.

After competing in the TBT tournament in July 2021 with Best Virginia, the former West Virginia University guard spent a season with Sopron KC, a professional Hungarian team, where he averaged 17.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.3 steals and 30.5 minutes in 37 games. He scored a season-high 33 points, shooting four-for-five from behind the arc and 11-for-13 from the charity stripe on May 11 against Alba Fehervar.

Myers spent the 2019-20 season with the Giessen 46ers and MHP Riesen in one of the top professional basketball leagues in the world, the Basketball Bundesliga in Germany. He averaged 11.5 points and 2.7 assists in 26 games.

The Brooklyn, New York, native started his professional career in 2017-18 with Enosis Neon Paralimni in Cyprus, where his 19.0 points per game allowed him to earn the Rookie of the Year honours. He scored 20 or more points 10 times and netted a season-high 30 points during two consecutive games against Michelin Etha Engomis on March 28 and April 4.

Collegiately, Myers played two years for the West Virginia University Mountaineers in the NCAA Division I and two years with Williston State in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). In 2014-15, he led the NJCAA in scoring with 25.0 points per game and finished third in total points with 750. He scored a season-high 55 points, hitting eight three-pointers, to go along with five rebounds and three assists on February 11 against North Dakota.

The BlackJacks (1-5) are in St. Catharines for their fourth game on the road tonight at 7:00pm against the Niagara River Lions (5-3). Fans can watch the game live on CEBL+, on the CEBL App or on CBC Gem.
