Ottawa 67's News Release

OTTAWA - An old rivalry will be reignited in a two-game series between the Ottawa 67's and the Gatineau Olympiques when the two teams play for the Alexandra Cup in the very first edition of the ''Battle of the Ottawa River."

The winner of the series will have bragging rights as the top team in the region.

Last year was the first time in fifteen years that these two teams played meaningful games against one another. The two teams met twice during the season, including an outdoor game at TD Place on December 17th, where the Olympiques won by a score of 4-1. The Barber Poles won the second game between both sides 5-0 in January.

Just like last season, both games played will have a relevant outcome, as they will count in the standings for both teams in their respective leagues. In ten meaningful games played between both teams, the 67's have a winning record of 5-3-2.

The first game of the ''Battle of the Ottawa River'' will be played in Gatineau at the Robert Guertin Centre on Friday, December 7th at 7:30 PM. The two teams will play the second game of this back to back on the 8th of December at TD Place in an afternoon game that will see the puck drop at 2:00 PM. An Alumni Game will be played between teams made up of ancient players of both clubs.

Tickets for the game in Ottawa on December 8th are currently on sale at ottawa67s.com or at TD Place's Box Office. If you are interested in attending the December 7th game in Gatineau can buy tickets at www.ovation.qc.ca or at the Robert Guertin Centre.
