Frisco RoughRiders News Release

For the second straight night, Renny Osuna pushed the RoughRiders past the Corpus Christi Hooks. Osuna's three-run double in the eighth inning propelled the 'Riders to a 4-1 victory Thursday night at Whataburger Field.

The RoughRiders (76-60, 36-30) scattered five hits in the game's first seven innings. In the eighth, though, Frisco loaded the bases with nobody out, and Osuna plugged the right-center field gap and cleared the bases. With the 'Riders trailing by three Wednesday night in the eighth, Osuna hit a grand slam that proved to be the game-winning hit.

Later in the frame, Mitch Hilligoss chased home Osuna to push the RoughRiders' lead to three.

The 'Riders' pitching staff did not need much support. Neil Ramirez surrendered Corpus Christi's lone run in four and two-thirds innings. Ramirez whiffed seven Hooks, which is his highest strikeout total as a RoughRider. In six starts with Frisco, Ramirez boasts a 1.89 earned run average and 24 strikeouts in 19 innings of work.

Richard Bleier (7-8) posted two and a third frames of scoreless relief for his fourth victory out of the bullpen. Johan Yan then blanked the Hooks in the eighth and ninth innings for his second save with the 'Riders.

Corpus Christi (50-86, 25-41) starter Jake Buchanan worked into the eighth inning and allowed one run on six hits in his Double-A debut. Daniel Meszaros (0-4) relieved Buchanan and gave up three runs in a losing effort.

The 'Riders and Hooks meet for the final time this season Friday night at 7:05. The RoughRiders' wins leader, left-hander Ben Snyder (10-5, 4.03 ERA), will oppose righty Erick Abreu (6-7, 4.51 ERA). Pre-game coverage along the RoughRiders Baseball Network begins at 6:35.
