Osprey Win Streak Halted by Voyagers in Front of Record Crowd

MISSOULA, MT - The Great Falls Voyagers managed to take advantage of every opportunity in the early innings, and used a very solid pitching performance by starter Terry Doyle to beat the Missoula Osprey on Friday, 7-1, in front of a record crowd of 4,042 at Ogren Park Allegiance Field.

Johny Celis had two hits and two RBIs, while Kyle Colligan and Rob Cummings added two hits apiece as the Voyagers toiok advantage of four Osprey errors to snap Missoula's three-game winning streak.

Doyle set a record for opposing pitchers, striking out 14 batters in seven innings of work to pick up his first win of the season. Doyle and reliever Dan Puls combined to strike out 17 Osprey batters, one shy of the previous best mark by an Osprey opponent.

Bobby Stone singled home the only Osprey (6-5) run in the bottom of the third inning, while Ender Inciarte had three hits to pace Missoula at the plate. Raywily Gomez added a pair of hits.

The Osprey managed to shut down the Voyager offense over the final five innings, and allowed just three earned runs. Chase Anderson, Kable Hogben and Diogenes Rosario combined to scatter five hits in the final 7 1/3 innings, striking out a combined nine batters.

The Osprey will head to Billings to play a pair of afternoon games against the Mustangs at Dehler Park. Both Saturday and Sunday games will start at 4:05 p.m. On Saturday, the Osprey will send Anthony Smith (0-1) to the mound, and he will face off with Mustang left-hander Shea Snowden.
