MISSOULA, MONT - In a back-and-forth game on Sunday here at Ogren Park Allegiance Field, the Missoula Osprey ran out of runs as the Orem Owlz put on a late push to take home a 12-8 win in front of 2,091 fans.
After the Osprey (14-13) scored four times in the bottom of the sixth inning to take an 8-6 lead, the Owlz (12-15) used a pair of home runs to score five times off of reliever Michael Rivera (1-2) to take an 11-8 advantage. The Owls added a run in the top of the ninth to account for the final margin.
Socrates Brito led the Osprey at the plate with three hits and a pair of RBIs. Brito plated Missoula's second run in the first inning, as his single scored Michael Perez, who hit an RBI triple in front of him. Brito then drove home a run with a double in the third to tie the game at 4-all.
Orem used four home runs - including two from designated hitter Mike Snyder - to jumpstart their offense, as they finished with 16 hits on the night. Snyder's second blast, a three-run shot, snapped an 8-all tie in the top of the seventh to give Orem the lead for good.
Danny Pulfer added two hits and two runs scored, while Perez, Ty Linton and Rudy Flores each had two hits for the Osprey. Justin Bianco added a pair of RBI - a two-run double in the four-run sixth that pushed the Osprey in front, 8-6. Pedro Ruiz added a base hit and a pair of walks, plus scored a run.
The Osprey will continue their four-game series with the Owlz on Monday at Ogren Park Allegiance Field. Right-hander Karl Triana will get the start for the Osprey, while the Owlz will counter with right-hander Pat Lowery.
