Missoula PaddleHeads News Release
OREM, UT - The Missoula Osprey ran into that buzz saw known as the Orem Owlz once again here at Brent Brown Ballpark on Tuesday, but showed late in the game they have plenty of fight.
Orem scored a 9-4 win over the Osprey, getting five of their first six runs with two out, and holding Missoula off the scoreboard until the ninth inning.
Missoula (7-8, 28-25) will remain at least in a tie for first place with Great Falls for first place in the Pioneer League's North Division, who was playing Casper on Tuesday. The game is still in progress. Neither Helena nor Billings managed to gain any ground on the Osprey, as both teams lost on Tuesday.
For the second time in the series, the Osprey reached double figures in hits, collecting 11 of them on Tuesday. Nine of them were collected by three players - Raywily Gomez had his second three-hit game of the series, while Ender Inciarte and David Nick also had three hits each, while each drove in a pair of runs.
Inciarte delivered a two-run single in the ninth inning with the bases loaded to get the Osprey on the scoreboard. Nick followed with a two-run triple to pull within 9-4, but Bobby Stone struck out with two out to end the game.
Stone singled and Keon Broxton doubled to account for the other Osprey hits.
Miguel Pena (0-5) took the loss, surrendering five runs in five innings pitched. Ryan Robowski allowed a pair of runs in two innings of work, while Jake Hale was touched up for two runs in his lone inning of work.
The Osprey will wrap up the series on Wednesday. Charles Brewer (6-0) will look to be the first pitcher in the Pioneer League to win seven games as he gets the start for the Osprey, while the Owlz have yet to announce a starter.
The Osprey will return home to start a three-game series against the Great Falls Voyagers on Tuesday, August 25. Tickets for any remaining Osprey home game this season can be obtained by calling the Osprey at (406) 543-3300, stopping by the Osprey Team Store at 412 W.
