Osprey and Voyagers Match-Up on Independence Day

MISSOULA, MONT - After finishing a four-day stretch that featured six games against the Billings Mustangs, the Missoula Osprey (11-8) head to Great Falls on Independence Day to take on the Voyagers (10-8) from Centene Stadium at 7:00 pm.

The Osprey come off a 6-2 loss Tuesday against Billings. Both starting pitchers in the game were locked in through the first four innings, keeping the game scoreless heading into the top of the fifth. Osprey starter Marcos Tineo (0-1) held Billings to five hits and two unearned runs through five innings on the mound. The two runs in the fifth from the Mustangs came on RBI doubles from Reshard Munore and Dylan Harris in back-to- back at-bats.

Billings plated two more runs in the sixth when Francis Azcona drilled a two-RBI double to give the Mustangs a 4-0 lead. Missoula logged its first run of the game in the inning when Buddy Kennedy drilled a solo home run, his third of the season.

In the seventh, Billings tagged on two more runs when Munore led off with a single. Drew Mount tripled to score Munore while Pabel Manzanero singled home Mount to give the Mustangs a 6-1 lead.

With two men on in the bottom of the eighth, Kennedy grounded out to score Missoula's second run to pull the game within 6-2. However, Jeremy Kivel pitched a scoreless ninth for Billings to hold on to the victory.

Jared Solomon (3-0) earned the win after tossing six strong innings for Billings, allowing one earned run and striking out a career-high nine batters.

On the mound Wednesday for Missoula is Deyni Olivero (0-1), who makes his second start of the season against Great Falls. He pitched a season-high six innings while giving up two hits and one unearned run June 29 vs. the Voyagers. He has a 1.69 ERA in 16 innings pitched, both bests among Osprey starters.

His opposition is Spencer Moran (1-1), who pitches against the Osprey for the third time this season. In his previous two starts, he tossed a combined 13 innings and gave up no earned runs. He has a 2.30 ERA this season with 16 strikeouts and four walks.

First pitch Wednesday is slated for 7:00 pm at Centene Stadium. The Selway Armory Pregame Show begins at 6:45 p.m. on ESPN 102.9 and the MiLB First Pitch App.
