Another Helena Walk-Off Trips up Voyagers

Helena, MT - The Voyagers suffered their second straight walk-off loss as the Brewers finished a two-game sweep of Great Falls with a 6-5 victory Tuesday night at Kindrick Legion Field.

Great Falls (10-9) has now lost three straight. The Voyagers are 3-5 against Helena (11-8) in the season series, and 3-7 overall on the road. The Brewers own a three-game winning streak and are 8-2 at home. Helena and Missoula are currently tied for first with the Voyagers one game back.

The Voyagers took an early lead in the 4th with a leadoff, solo home run drilled deep to left by Corey Zangari. It was Zangari's second homer of the season. The Brewers responded quickly to take their first lead with a two-run bottom of the 4th. Yeison Coca led off the frame with a double to left-center. The next batter, Jean Carmona, smacked a two-run home run to left-center for a 2-1 lead.

Great Falls jumped back in front with a two-run 5th. Ian Dawkins singled to lead off the inning. Dawkins stole second. Ramon Beltre and Logan Sowers each walked. With one out and the bases loaded, Romy Gonzalez hit a ground ball to third where the third baseman stepped on the bag for one but threw wildly to first base trying to turn two. Two runs scored on the play for a 3-2 Voyagers lead.

The Voyagers and Brewers traded a pair of runs in the 6th. Great Falls made it 5-2 in the top half after a one-out double by Amado Nunez. With two outs, Jay Estes walked and Ian Dawkins singled home Nunez. Estes later scored from third on a wild pitch and it was 5-2. In the home half, Yeison Coca tripled with one out and scored on a Jean Carmona sacrifice fly to center. A solo home run by Chad McClanahan lined over the wall in the right field corner closed the gap to one at 5-4.

Helena broke even with a single run in the 8th. Pablo Abreu led off with a walk and later scored on a groundout by Jean Carmona. The Brewers then made it back-to-back walk-off wins with a two-out solo home run long gone to deep left off the bat of Nick Egnatuk. It was Egnatuk's first hit of the night and third homer of the season.

At the plate, the Voyagers outhit the Brewers 9-to-7. Amado Nunez produced his first three-hit game of the season with a single and two doubles. Ian Dawkins and Corey Zangari each had a pair of hits in the loss. Yeison Coca went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Chad Whitmer posted the win for Helena. Whitmer (2-0) worked the final two innings and gave up just one hit with two strikeouts. Vince Arobio took the loss for the Voyagers. Arobio (1-1) pitched two-thirds and allowed one earned run on one hit.
