Oshawa Power Falls Short

(OSHAWA, ON) Durham's Team the Oshawa Power lost a must-win game against the St John Mill Rats 116-109 on Rogers Slam Dunk Day in front of an astounding 5,542 screaming and supportive fans.

The Power started off slowly digging themselves a hole that made it tough for them to climb out of as they ended the first quarter down 35-18.

"I told them you can do what you want on offense," said Coach Robert Brickey following the game. "If we're going to get back in the game we have to do it defensively."

Brandon Robinson's 34 points allowed the Power to sneak back into the game late.

Morgan Lewis poured in 25 points and added 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Canadian Tut Ruach recorded 23 points.

The Mill Rats got a phenomenal effort from point guard Darren Duncan who exploded for 31 points. Canadian Kevin Francis had 18 points and 5 rebounds in his return to the General Motors Centre.

Rogers Communications, showing their tremendous for the NBL Canada and the Oshawa Power, bought out every seat in the General Motors Centre for this game which was aptly named ROGERS SLAM DUNK DAY.

"I want to thank Rogers for their tremendous support of the Oshawa Power and the entire league. The crowd was unbelievable tonight," added Brickey.

The Power will now hit the road for a huge matchup with the Moncton Miracles on Sunday January 29 at 1:00 p.m. E.S.T.

Power Goes Pink at home at the GM Centre on February 1, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. against the Summerside Storm to raise funds for The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in support of NBL Canada's Cure on the Court initiative.
