Oseguera and Offense Lead 'Fish to Win

(Bridgeport, Conn. - June 16, 2012) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (22-27) were helped by starter Paul Oseguera and five Lancaster Barnstormers (29-20) errors to come up with a 9-2 victory against the road team at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Saturday Night in front of 4,829 fans. The Bluefish are now within three wins of 1,000 in franchise history.

Oseguera (4-2) pitched well as the southpaw completed seven scoreless innings and allowed three hits and a walk while fanning six to pick up the victory. Joe Bateman and Jesse English worked the final frames while surrendering two runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk while striking out two to finish the game.

Bridgeport's offense came up with five runs in the fourth, three in the fifth and another in the sixth while the Barnstormers collected the only runs of the night in the eighth.

Luis Lopez and Elliott Ayala produced three hit nights with each of the batters driving in a pair and scoring twice. Eddie Rogers, Prentice Redman, and Brock Peterson each had two hit evenings with Redman reaching base three times and scoring twice and Peterson scoring twice and driving in one. Former Quinnipiac infielder and Greenwich product, Joe Poletsky picked up his first two RBI of his career in the fourth and fifth innings.

Lancaster hurler, Mark Brackman (2-3), suffered the loss as the starter completed six frames and surrendered nine runs (five earned) on thirteen hits and a walk while striking out five. Horacio Ramirez tossed two shutout frames against Bridgeport while giving up a hit and striking out one batter.

Adam Godwin and Blake Gailen drove in the only runs of the nigh for the Barnstormers.

Bridgeport finishes a four-game series against the Lancaster Barnstormers on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. It is All in Family Fun Sunday as kids have a chance to get their favorite Bluefish players autographs before the game and run the bases after the contest comes to a close.
