Oscar De La Hoya's 1st Annual Fight Night at QuikTrip Park Set Friday, September 12th

Grand Prairie, TX (08.25.08) - Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions returns to the DFW Metroplex on Friday, September 12th when the Los Angeles based promotion firm presents..."Oscar De La Hoya's First Annual Fight Night at QuikTrip Park. QuikTrip Park is the home of the Grand Prairie AirHogs baseball team, located between Lone Star Park and Nokia Theatre.

The eight-bout, nationally televised (Telefutura Network) fight card, which will feature a special ceremony to honor 2008 U.S. Olympian, Luis Yanez (Duncanville), is scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm. Yanez, who recently returned from the Olympics in Beijing, will be on hand at QuikTrip Park to be honored by local fight fans.

General Admission is FREE with a ticket from any DFW area QuikTrip store. Fans can also use the free ticket to upgrade to a Reserved ticket for only $5 or a Field VIP ticket for only $25. Slated for action in the main event is undefeated world contender, Lucas Matthysse (22-0, 21 KO's...Buenos Aires, Argentina). Matthysse will square off again veteran Rogelio Castaneda (24-14-3, Sacramento, CA) in a 10-Round Jr. Welterweight contest.

In the Semi-Main Event, 2004 U.S. Olympian, Rock Allen (12-0, Philadelphia, PA), will take on Austin prospect, Gilbert Vera (9-2-1). Allen and Vera are scheduled for 8 Rounds in the Jr. Welterweight division.

DFW favorites Jesse Lara, Chap Huggins, Juan Carlos De Leon and Hector Vazquez will be fighting on the card as well.

Lara (14-1-1, Dallas) will be featured in a 6-Round Welterweight fight against Sergio Reyes (5-1-2, Laredo, TX).

Jr. Middleweights, Huggins (2-0, Fort Worth) and De Leon (Pro Debut, Dallas), will fight it out in a 4 Round -- Ft. Worth vs Dallas battle.

Vazquez (Dallas) and Anthony Reyes (Wichita Falls) will both be making their pro debuts when the challenge each other in a 4 Round Welterweight contest.

According to AirHogs president, Mark Schuster, his organization is looking forward to working with De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions on the first ever - boxing event at QuikTrip Park.

"We couldn't be more pleased than to be working with the biggest and best boxing organization in the world -- Oscar De La Hoya and his Golden Boy Promotions," said Schuster, who's American Association, AirHogs, begin playoff action this Monday against the Fort Worth Cats.

"In addition to baseball, we are dedicated to bringing other quality events to Grand Prairie and QuikTrip Park. To have a nationally televised boxing event promoted by Oscar and to be able to honor our local Olympian boxer (Yanez), makes this a special night for us as well as DFW boxing fans."
