O's Place Izturis on DL, Select Salazar from Norfolk

The Orioles today announced that they have placed SS CESAR IZTURIS on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 4, with appendicitis and have selected the contract of INF OSCAR SALAZAR from Triple-A Norfolk.
Salazar has batted .372 (74-199) with 10 home runs and 43 RBI in 50 games for Norfolk this season. He played in 34 games with the Orioles in 2008, batting .284 (23-81) with five home runs and 15 RBI. Salazar has appeared in 42 Major League games in his career, batting .265 (27-102) with six home runs and 18 RBI.
Izturis was diagnosed with appendicitis on Friday, June 5 and underwent a laproscopic appendectomy that evening at California Pacific Medical Center. He has batted .260 (39-150) in 45 games for Baltimore this year.
The addition of Salazar gives the Orioles 40 players on their 40-man roster.
