Orlando Pride News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando Pride has announced its regular season roster, as opening week of the 2016 National Women's Soccer League season begins. Under the direction of Head Coach Tom Sermanni, the 18-player roster begins its inaugural season on Sunday evening when it travels to face Portland Thorns FC at 10 p.m. ET at Providence Park.
In addition, the Pride has signed midfielder Sam Witteman, the Club's first-ever selection in the 2016 NWSL College Draft. Per team and league policies, terms of the contact were not announced.
Witteman was selected 10th overall out of the University of California. A versatile midfielder, Witteman made at least one start in seven different positions in her senior season at Berkeley. Witteman, 22, started 22 games in her final season at California, scoring four goals, all of them game-winners, and notching three assists. Her attacking precision earned her numerous accolades as one of the most dangerous outside backs in the Pac-12 Conference.
The Club recently announced the #FilledWithPride campaign, an initiative to break the NWSL single-match attendance record at the team's first home game on April 23 against the Houston Dash. Ticket for that match, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET, can be purchased at orlando-pride.com.
Season Ticket packages are also available starting at $15 per match and can be purchased at orlando-pride.com/tickets or by calling 855-ORL-CITY.
