Orlando City SC News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando City SC (5-3-2, 17 points) heads to Stade Saputo on Saturday, May 7, to face CF Montréal (4-3-2, 14 points). The match is set to kickoff at 4 p.m. ET and will be televised locally on FOX35 PLUS and LionNation TV.
In addition to being televised on FOX35 PLUS and LionNation TV, local radio coverage of the match is available on Real Radio 104.1 in English and Acción 97.9 in Spanish.
"We're good, excited and working towards this game in Canada against Montréal, a rival that we've already played here at home in our opener. It's a place that brought us good memories from our last game of the regular season last year when we clinched [the playoffs]," Head Coach Oscar Pareja said. "At the same time, we do respect them a lot. They're a good team that has good coaching there too and I see a very clear model in the way they do their things, so we have been preparing this week for that like always."
City last faced Montréal in its home opener on Feb. 27, taking a 2-0 victory. Alexandre Pato and Benji Michel both scored in the match, serving as their first finishes of the 2022 season. In its last trip to Stade Saputo, City took a 2-0 shutout victory on Decision Day a year ago, punching its ticket to the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs with the win.
The Lions enter the weekend coming off of a 2-1 win against Charlotte FC. Ruan and Facundo Torres each scored for City in the first half, with Christian Fuchs finding the back of the net for Charlotte after the break from the penalty spot.
Torres now sits tied with Alexandre Pato, Júnior Urso and Ercan Kara for the team lead in finishes in MLS play this season, with Pato and Urso leading the side in all competitions with three. Goalkeeper Pedro Gallese remains atop the league in clean sheets, tied with Chicago's Gaga Slonina with five shutouts this year.
Montréal comes into Saturday's match following a 2-1 victory over Atlanta United at Stade Saputo this past weekend. Former Lions defender Kamal Miller scored in the fourth minute of play and would earn the assist on the game-winner in the 82nd from Joaquín Torres.
Djordje Mihailovic leads Club de Foot with four goals this season, already tying his career high of four from the 2021 season, while also leading the side in assists with four to his credit.
Following Saturday's match, the Lions take on the Philadelphia Union in the Round of 32 of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday, May 10. Kickoff for that match is set for 7 p.m. ET with tickets available here or by calling (855) ORL-CITY.
