
Orem Walk-Off Ends Voyagers' Dominance

Orem, UT - In their longest game of the season, the Voyagers were finally bested by Orem 5-4 in 11 innings Thursday night at UCCU Ballpark.
Great Falls (20-13) remains in first place in the Pioneer League North, and is four games up on both Helena and Missoula with five to play in the first-half schedule. The Voyagers fell to 5-9 on the road. Orem (10-23) posted its first win over Great Falls in six games this season and is now 6-9 at home. The magic number for the Voyagers to clinch the first-half title sits at two.
Orem opened the scoring with a three-run home run in the bottom of the 1st by Francisco Del Valle. It was Del Valle's second homer of the season and scored Livan Soto and Nonie Williams. Soto led off the inning with a single and Williams walked.
The Voyagers eventually tied it with a three-run 4th. Logan Sowers led off the frame with a single to center. With one out, Alex Destino parked a two-run home run over the wall in center field for his second of the season. A two-out, solo home run hit high in the air to right field by Ryan Fitzpatrick leveled the game at 3-3. It was Fitzpatrick's first homer as a professional.
The teams traded single runs in the 5th and 6th innings. A one-out RBI single to right-center by Tim Millard gave Orem a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the 5th. Great Falls tied it in the top of the 6th with a two-out rally started by Ryan Fitzpatrick with a double into the right field corner. Jhoandro Alfaro followed with a base hit blooper up the left field line that scored Fitzpatrick.
In the bottom of the 11th, the Owlz were a strike away from having to go another extra inning when Mario Sanjur singled to center with runners at first and third for the walk-off. Tim Millard scored the winning run from third. It was the first extra-inning game played by Orem this season. The Voyagers fell to 1-4 in extras this season. Orem outhit Great Falls 11-to-9. Tim Millard posted three hits to lead the Owlz. Francisco Del Valle and Livan Soto each had two hits. For the Voyagers, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Lenyn Sosa both collected two hits.
On the mound, Jacob Voss picked up the win for Orem. Voss (1-0) pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the 11th. Vince Arobio took the loss for Great Falls. Arobio worked the 11th and gave up an unearned run on one hit with two strikeouts and one walk.
