Helena Brewers News Release
Helena, MT - The Idaho Falls offense on Friday night jumped on the Helena Brewers from the get go and didn't stop. With a three run first and a three run second, the Chukars raced out to a lead they wouldn't relinquish. A ten run sixth inning put the game out of reach, as Helena fell 18-5 five to Idaho Falls. With the loss and a Great Falls win, the Brewers have been eliminated from playoff contention in the first half.
Idaho Falls got to Helena starter Victor Castaneda (L, 0-5) early, as back to back one out walks set up league RBI leader Reed Rohlman, who drove home the first run of the game with a double. Chase Vallot then followed with a double of his own, scoring two to extend the lead to 3-0.
Hunter Strong led off the second with a double, and with two out, Castaneda grooved a fastball on the inside part of the plate to Offerman Collado, who launched it over the right field wall for his first homer of the season, extending the lead to 5-0. A double from Nate Eaton followed, and Rohlman singled him home, ending the night for Castaneda.
Helena scored three combined in the third and fourth to cut the deficit to three, but a Chase Vallot homer got the advantage back to four in the top of the fifth. Idaho Falls then busted the game open with a ten run sixth, as the Brewers used three different pitchers in the inning.
Connor Mayes (W, 4-2) got the win for Idaho Falls, allowing just three runs over five innings.
The Brewers look to start fresh against Ogden tomorrow, with a special 5:05 PM first pitch time. Aaron Ashby starts for Helena, opposed by Joel Inoa for Ogden. For tickets visit the ticketing page of helenabrewers.net.
