The Orange County Soccer Club faces off against Los Angeles Force from the National Independent Soccer Association, the third division of U.S. professional soccer, in a Second Round U.S. Open Cup match on Tuesday, April 5th at 7:30 pm at Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine.
The 108-year-old U.S. Open Cup returns after the 2020 and 2021 tournaments were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ending 106 years of consecutive play.
Through its first three matches in the 2022 USL Championship regular season, OCSC is 1-1-1 following consecutive matches with stoppage time goals from forwards Sean 'Ugo' Okoli and Milan Iloski. Both players share the team lead with two goals.
LA Force kicked off their third season in NISA with a scoreless draw against Bay Cities FC. In this season's roster, there are four former Orange County players-Harry Forrester, Chandler Hoffman, Edson Alvarado and Juan Pablo Ocegueda-who have made a combined 82 appearances for OCSC.
This will be the ninth Open Cup appearance for OCSC who currently hold a 5-7-2 record in the competition. The club has twice advanced to the Fourth Round in the competition and has been defeated by the MLS side LA Galaxy both times. This is the first Open Cup appearance for LA Force.
