Orange County SC dropped a 2-0 decision on the road in Edinburg, TX to Rio Grande Valley FC Toros on Sunday, June 9. It ended a streak of three consecutive wins for the Black and Orange.

OCSC nearly began the match with a bang in the fourth minute. Forward Korede Osundina found himself free down the right wing and fired a shot that stung the gloves of Toros goalkeeper Tyler Deric and out at the back post.

For the rest of the first half, neither side generated much in terms of chances. The two sides entered the locker room at half time with a combined zero shots on target, two yellow cards and 13 fouls.

The second half brought chances quickly out of the locker room, beginning in the 50th minute for the Black and Orange. Defender Owen Lambe made a darting run and played a quick give and go with forward Marc "Sparky" McNulty to get into the box. Once entering the box, Lambe cut it back for Sparky, but the Scotsman's effort was saved by Deric.

Just two minutes later, two substitutes got in on the action for OCSC, as midfielder Brian Iloski played a cross in the six-yard box for midfielder Ashish Chattha, but Chattha's header went just over the bar and out.

OCSC goalkeeper Colin Shutler made his first save of the night two minutes later in the 54th minute. Keeping out a header from RGVFC midfielder Jonathan Ricketts following a corner.

Defender Markus Nakkim had a miraculous goal line clearance in the 67th minute, keeping a shot from RGV forward Christian Pinzon from crossing the goal line by knocking it off the post and out.

Rio Grande Valley scored the only goals of the game in the 69th minute and 78th minute, scored on a header from defender Wahab Ackwei and a left-footed strike from Ricketts in the 78th minute respectively.

Orange County SC returns to action next Saturday, July 15 when they head east to face Loudoun United in Leesburg, VA for the first time in club history.
