Opening Night renamed…"Quake Night!"

May 20, 2008 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Reno Silver Sox News Release

The Reno Silver Sox are excited to announce that Opening Night on Friday, May 23 will be ?Quake Night at Peccole Park? beginning at 7:00 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00 p.m.

In light of current events that have been shaking in the Reno area, namely the hundreds of earthquakes, the Silver Sox are proud to help do their part by bringing together several local emergency management agencies to educate people on what to do in an emergency. Joining the Silver Sox in this effort will be the Washoe County Emergency Management Team, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the Northern Nevada chapter of the American Red Cross.

All of these agencies will have tables setup with brochures and books about how to prepare your family in case a disaster strikes Reno. Families are encouraged to talk to these local emergency management teams and ask questions about how to properly create an emergency kit, designate a safe meeting place, what to do during/after an earthquake, etc.

The Silver Sox will also be giving away one emergency kit to one lucky family during the game courtesy of Washoe County Emergency Management as well as two ?Earthquake? ice cream sundaes courtesy of Swenson?s Ice Cream and Food.

To do our part as well, the Silver Sox will be hosting a food drive for the local Nevada Food Bank. In exchange for two cans of food, you will receive one free General Admission ticket to the night?s game. And of course, if you feel like donating more the Silver Sox will be more than happy to accept your donation.
