Opening Day is Almost Here

The 2007 Modesto Nuts Opening Night presented by Costco Wholesale is scheduled for Thursday, April 5th against the Visalia Oaks. Game time is 7:05 p.m. and the entertainment begins at 5:30 p.m. Pre-game entertainment includes live music from former Tower of Power member Mic Gillette and his partner, Jon Smith. Following the game, the Modesto Nuts will present the first of 19 fireworks shows in 2007.

The Mic Gillete Jon Smith Project features Mic Gillette, a founding member of Tower of Power. Mic is also credited with stints that include Cold Blood, Blood, Sweat & Tears, and has appeared on hundreds of recordings with the Rolling Stones, Elton John, The Doobie Brothers and Santana. His partner Jon Smith was a founding member of Edgar Winter's White Trash Band.

In addition to the live music, the Modesto Nuts will unveil their new, state-of-the-art video board as well as other stadium improvements made during the off-season. Improvements include the expanded east barbeque area and the laser-leveled infield. Gates open for Opening Night at 5:30 p.m. with the game beginning at 7:05 p.m.

The Modesto Nuts will present FanFest on April 7th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event will feature player autograph sessions, mascots, live music, inflatables and games for the kids. Coaches and players will also be on hand to answer questions about the upcoming season. Former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver J.J. Stokes will also be on hand signing autographs and answering questions from 12 pm - 1 pm. Tickets can be picked up at any of the Modesto Nuts Community Caravan stops and will also be available at the gate for $5.
