Ontario Takes 2-0 Series Lead as Series Shifts to Utah Wednesday

Ontario, California - The Ontario Reign built an early 4-0 lead and added a late empty-netter to take a 2-0 series lead on Utah with a 6-2 win on Monday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

The series now shifts to Maverik Center for games Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with a Utah win. Face-off all three nights is at 7 p.m. Wednesday is a Wild Wednesday with $2 Hot Dogs, $2 Fries, $2 Soft Drinks, $3 Draft Beers and $5 Student Tickets.

The Reign started the scoring 1:39 into the first period on a breakaway and built the lead to 2-0 with a goal on a delayed penalty, followed by back-to-back power-play goals to make it 4-0 1:05 into the second period.

Utah made it 4-1 on a delayed penalty as Michael Pelech worked in for his third goal of the playoffs on a feed ahead from Mathieu Aubin and Kevin Lind.

After killing four-straight penalties and getting some big saves Eric Levine, the game was 4-2 going down the stretch.

Matt Pelech made it 4-2 on a blast from the point assisted by brother Michael Pelech 6:34 into the third period.

Levine stopped 11 of 12 in relief of Bobkov who surrendered four goals on eight shots.

Ontario made it 5-2 with 4:30 left in regulation and 6-2 with an extra-attacker with 1:42 left.

The Grizzlies return home for playoff games Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.

Wednesday is a Wild Wednesday with $2 Hot Dogs, $2 Fries, $2 Soft Drinks, $3 Draft Beers and $5 Student Tickets.
