February 9, 2018 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Ontario Fury News Release

The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, gave up three second quarter goals to the Monterrey Flash, and the last undefeated team in the Major Arena Soccer League made it hold up as they beat Ontario 5-2 Thursday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Erick Flores scored two goals and had an assist for the Flash, who moved to 16-0 on the season, their first since taking two years off after winning the first MASL championship. Goaltender Diego Reynoso made 10 saves to shut down the Fury, as Ontario failed to score in the second half.

Miguel Vaca scored the game's opening goal on an assist from Edgar Gonzalez. But the Fury tied it after Adrien Perez brought down a loose ball at midfield, found a seam and fired past Reynoso to make it 1-1 after one period.

But Flores scored 17 seconds into the second quarter, than again five minutes later to give the Flash a 3-1 lead. Edgar Flores made it 4-1 two minutes later. The Fury got one back on the power play as Juan Gonzalez fired into the upper right corner.

From there, the Flash seemed content to control the ball. During their only power play of the game in the fourth quarter, they worked the clock, only taking two attempts at the Fury goal, both of which were blocked by Fury defenders.

The Fury wll have no time to rest, as they will head to El Paso first thing in the morning and will take on the Coyotes at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the El Paso County Coliseum.

Ontario returns home next Thursday for the first of a critical home-and-home series with the Tacoma Stars. The two teams are within a half-game of each other for the final playoff spot in the Pacific Division, with the Stars winning the earlier two meetings between the teams earlier this season.

The Fury will also be celebrating its fifth season during the game next Thursday with special presentations and surprises. Tickets for the game, as well as the season finale March 1, are on sale now at the Citizens Business Bank Arena box office, online at Ticketmaster.com or through the Fury's offices by calling 909-457-0252.
