ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, 2011-12 Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champions, announce the signing of Mario Lamoureux to the 2012-13 roster.

Lamoureux, 24, joins the Reign from making his professional debut with the Gwinnett Gladiators last season. The forward played two games with Gwinnett during the regular season and appeared in four playoff games with the team.

"He is the kind of player we look for," said Reign Head Coach Jason Christie. "A Captain from North Dakota; they have a great program out there."

Prior to turning pro, the Grand Forks, N.D. native played four years of college hockey with the University of North Dakota. In 148 games, Lamoureux recorded 46 points (17g, 29a) and 228 penalty minutes. He captained the UND team his senior year, and gave the team a 14-1 all-time record when he scored. He also tallied the 10,000th goal in the history of the program in his final year.

The 5-foot-9, 185-pound Lamoureux spent four years playing at the junior level with the USHL's Tri-City Storm where in 236 games he was named the club's all-time leading scorer with 129 points (44g, 85a).

"He is a good character guy and has a lot of upside," Christie said. "I think that's something when we put our team together you want those guys; the guys who are going to show up for the team every night. He's got a lot of bite in his game."

Lamoureux joins Kyle Kraemer, Vincent LoVerde, Jason Beeman, C.J. Stretch, and Colton Yellow Horn on the Reign's roster and will appear in training camp.
