On The Bench Contest Winner Announced
December 21, 2009 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, Manitoba -- The Home Depot and the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings are pleased to announce the 2009 winner of their "On the Bench" Contest.
Brandon's Tim Bits Bruins were drawn from well over fifty entries Monday and have earned the right to have Wheat King assistant coaches Dwayne Gylywoychuk and Darren Ritchie come out and practice with them in the new year.
The Home Depot "On the Bench" Contest, which was held in forty markets across Canada, gives local volunteer coaches an opportunity for a great "know-how" learning experience with Major Junior coaches.
Local teams had the opportunity to enter one of three ways - at BDO Fan Services at all Wheat Kings' home games this season, online or by visiting Brandon's Home Depot.
In other Wheat King news, Brandon went into the Christmas break this week with an impressive 25-11-0-2 record, good for 52 points and a tie of the Eastern Division lead with the Saskatoon Blades.
Brandon returns to action one week from tonight - Monday, December 28th - in Swift Current, against the Broncos. The Wheat Kings' next home game is Saturday, January 2nd against Prince Albert. Tickets for that game are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca.
