
Kootenay Ice's Brayden McNabb Named Boston Pizza WHL Player Of The Week

CALGARY, AB. - The BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week is defenceman Brayden McNabb of the Kootenay Ice.
McNabb collected 9 points, scoring three goals and six assists in three games over the past week, helping the Ice post a 3-0-0-0 record in that span.
On Tuesday, December 15th, the Kootenay Ice hosted Central Division foes, the red hot Medicine Hat Tigers. McNabb scored one goal and added a pair of assists as the Ice downed the Tigers 6-4 and was named the games 3rd Star. On Friday, December 18th, the Ice were in Lethbridge for the front end of a home-and-home series with the Hurricanes. McNabb picked up a goal and an assist as the Ice defeated the 'Canes 8-2. In the latter half of the home-and-home series in Kootenay on Saturday night, McNabb netted one goal and three assists in a 6-1 victory over the Hurricanes. He was also named the games 2nd Star.
McNabb is currently on a four game goal scoring streak and his nine points over the last three games has him sitting 5th among all WHL defenceman with 35 points (11 goals, 24 assists) in 29 games. With their three victories this past week the Ice have posted 7-2-0-1 record in their last ten contests and currently sit third in the WHL Central Division with a 19-15-1-2 record for 41 points.
McNabb, an 18-year-old from Davidson, Saskatchewan, is playing his third full season with the Kootenay Ice. He was selected in the 2nd round - 37th overall by the Kootenay Ice during the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft and was recently picked in the 3rd round - 66th overall at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres.
The WHL has also nominated Drew Owsley of the Tri-City Americans for the CHL Goaltender of the Week Award. Owsley posted a 2-0-0-0 road record with two shut-outs this past week, stopping all 78 shots faced for an incredible 0.000 goals-against average and a 1.000 save percentage. Owsley, a native of Lethbridge, Alberta, leads all WHL goaltenders in the win category with a 25-8-0-0 record, has accumulated four shut-outs on the season and sits fifth with a 2.50 GAA.
