Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

TODAY: The Royals host the RedHawks in the home stand finale. Omaha leads the series 2-0. Air-time is 1:15 on Magic 1490 and at www.Oroyals.com. The game will also be broadcast in Spanish on Radio Lobo, 97.7 FM.

LAST NIGHT: Shawn Camp (3-6) blanked Oklahoma over the final 4.2 innings, helping the Royals to an 8-3 victory. Brian Anderson, making his 1st rehab assignment start for Omaha after one for Wichita, went the first 4.1 innings. The veteran lefty gave up three runs on three hits, walking one and striking out two. Calvin Pickering had three hits for Omaha, including a two-run single to cap a three-run rally in the 3rd as the Royals took a 4-2 lead. Adrian Brown also had three hits, coming up a triple shy of a cycle. Brown's fifth home run of the season ignited the 3rd inning rally. Paul Phillips smacked a two-run homer in a 3-run 6th that iced it.

ROYALS REPORT: A win today would give the Royals their third series sweep of the season and would be the fourth consecutive win at home, which would mark the longest home win string of 2005. *** Camp has posted a 3.58 ERA (15 ER in 37.2 IP) over his last eleven appearances, including five starts. He's 2-3 over that span. *** Pickering is 8-for-16 with two home runs, five RBI and four runs scored in his last four games. *** Brown is heading into the Triple-A All-Star Game at Sacramento next Wednesday with some momentum. He's riding a seven-game hitting streak, batting at a .433 clip (13-30) in the process. *** Phillips broke out of a 2-for-20 slide last night with two hits last night. Phillips owns the best average of any Royal facing Oklahoma, hitting .429 (9-21) with a home run and three RBI in five contests. *** Aaron Guiel was caught stealing home in the 1st inning last night, but swiped second base in the 6th. Guiel is hitting at a .297 pace (19-64) with six homers and 14 RBI over his past 16 tilts. *** Chad Santos' run-scoring single in the 5th inning last night gave the Hawaiian slugger his first RBI in his past eleven games. He's hitting .200 (5-35) over that stretch, although he does have one hit in each of his last four games. *** Word is that Alejandro Prieto suffered a torn ACL on the Royals recent trip to Memphis and will undergo season-ending surgery. Prieto his .281 with 2 homers and 23 RBI in 46 games with Omaha since being reacquired by KC in a trade with the Phillies. *** Cory Aldridge is 5-for-his-last-34 (.147) after picking up 10 hits in his first 23 at-bats (.435) with Omaha. *** Scott Walter, who hit .175 (7-40) over ten games in June, is 1-for-9 (.111) this month, seeing action in two contests. *** Luis Ugueto has gone 5-for-10 with two home runs, four RBI and four runs scored in the past three games. *** Over his last eight games, Chris Truby is hitting .172 (5-29) with two homers, providing his only two RBI.

STARTERS: LH Derek Lee (0-1, 6.06) vs. RH Danny Tamayo (4-6, 5.79) Tamayo makes his 18th start (20th appearance) of the season. The 26-year old righty is coming off his roughest start of the season, a 9-7 loss Tuesday at Memphis (2.0 IP, 9 H, 8 R, 0 BB, 0 K, 3 HR). In his previous five games (four starts) prior to that outing, Tamayo was 1-1 with a 3.65 ERA (10 ER and 3 HR in 24.2 IP). Tamayo was named by KC as the Royals Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2004.
