Hill's grand slam leads Tucson to 10-4 win over Tacoma

Tucson, AZ - Koyie Hill's 5th inning grand slam led the Tucson Sidewinders to a 10-4 victory over Tacoma Rainiers Sunday night at Tucson Electric Park. The Sidewinders fell behind early 4-0 but a big 5th inning broke things wide open for Tucson. The Sidewinders scored 7 runs in the inning on 4 hits, two of which were homeruns. The Sidewinders would add 3 more in the bottom of the 6th inning to take a 10-4 lead. The bullpen would come in and shut down Tacoma the rest of the way to give the Sidewinders the 10-4 victory.

The offense was led by C Koyie Hill , CF Carlos Quentin and LF Scott Hairston. Hill went 1-for-4 with a run, a homerun, 4 RBI and a walk. Quentin took the team's lead in home runs with his 16th home run of the season to left field. Hairston also produced offensively going 2-for-4 with a run, 2 RBI and a walk. DH Andy Green kept his on base streak alive getting a base hit in the 6th inning. His streak now stands at 28 games.

Starting LHP Bill Murphy earned the win going 5 innings giving up 4 runs, all earned, on 8 hits with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. The win moves Murphy to 4-4 with a 4.52 ERA. The bullpen had a solid outing after Murphy left combining for 4 innings of 1-hit baseball.

With the win the Sidewinders move to 45-46 on the season and earn their second sweep of the year. Tucson will be off the next three days due to the All-Star break in which 1B Conor Jackson, 2B Andy Green, RHP Jason Bulger, and Pitching Coach Mike Parrott will participate. The will resume their season Thursday versus Las Vegas.
