Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

Of the over 200 Minor League Baseball teams across the country, the Omaha Royals recorded the number one largest crowd so far this season. Friday night 16,698 Omaha Royals fans enjoyed a perfect evening of America's favorite pastime, despite a 4-1 loss to the Oklahoma RedHawks. During the upcoming four-game homestand, a projected 30,000 fans will visit the ballpark. Overall the Royals' attendance is up a drastic 15% over the 2003 season.

"It's encouraging to see Omaha get behind the Royals and show this kind of support," said Vice President/Assistant General Manager Matt Brown. "We believe this is due in large part to the promotions, events and other fun activities we are offering the public. We are offering our fans more this year than ever before, and they are certainly thanking us with this increased attendance." Here's some of those promotions coming up:

Thursday is the 2nd Miller Lite "Thirsty? Thursday" promotion presented by Lamar Outdoor & Journal Broadcast Group.

Friday is Coca-Cola Tribute to Negro Leagues presented by Clear Channel & Cox Communications. Fireworks post-game.

Saturday's game Armour sun visors to the 1st 1,500 fans presented by KOIL Country 1020.

Sunday is Lockheed Martin Military Appreciation & Family Fun Day presented by KGBI The Bridge.

Also appearing on Friday, will be Major League Baseball's all-time saves leader, Lee Smith. Smith will throw out a ceremonial first pitch prior to the 7:05 p.m. game and will be signing autographs for the fans!
