Trappers return for eight-game homestand

The Trappers return home with a 27-32 record after an eight-game road trip. While the club continues to struggle on the road, the Trappers look to return to the comforts of home where they are 11-8 at TELUS Field and 17-10 overall (including the first eight games in Yuma, AZ). While on the road, Ryan Church was named Player of the Week, hitting .471 in eight games and is now leading the league in batting at .379. Another top Trapper performer is left-hander Scott Downs, who is third in the league with 74.2 innings pitched and is also among the league leaders with a 3.50 ERA. The Trappers will look to these players for continued production during this eight-game homestand.

Series Preview: Las Vegas 51's

Thursday June 10: After finishing up their series with the Tacoma Rainiers, the Las Vegas 51s will be coming to town for a four-game set with the Trappers. The 51s, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, are 26-34 on the season and losers of five of their last eight. Last season the Trappers were 5-10 versus the 51's but have split the four games so far this season. The Trappers lead the All-Time series 146-143.

Prospects to Look For:

Edwin Jackson is 6-2, 4.68 (57.2 IP - 30 ER) in 11 starts with the 51s this season. He is also 1-0, 1.80 (5.0 IP - 1 ER) in one Major League start with Los Angeles. Jackson is the ranked by Baseball America as the best prospect in the Dodgers' organization.

Koyie Hill is batting .319 with eight homers and 40 RBI in 55 games with the 51s this season. Last year vs. the Trappers, Hill hit .308 with six RBI in 11 games. Hill is ranked as the ninth-best prospect in the Dodgers' organization.

Once a Trapper, Always a Trapper

Eric Knott appeared in 24 games (10 starts) with the Trappers in 2003 going 6-5, 4.32 (77 IP - 37 ER).

Series Preview: Tucson Sidewinders

Monday June 14: The Tucson Sidewinders will be coming to town for a four-game set with the Trappers beginning on Monday, June 14. The Sidewinders, the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, are 34-25 on the season and winners of six of their last eight. Last season the Trappers were 6-10 versus the Sidewinders and trail the All-Time series 138-164.

Prospects to Look For

Brian Bruney is 2-0, 2.21 (20.1 IP - 5 ER) in 14 appearances with the Sidewinders this season. He is 15-15, 5.56 (223 IP - 82 ER) in 182 minor league games (two starts). Bruney is the ranked by Baseball America as the eighth-best prospect in the Diamondbacks organization.

Edgar Gonzalez is 2-5, 5.56 (56 IP - 35 ER) in nine starts with the Sidewinders this season. He is 26-22, 3.50 (396 IP - 154 ER) in 62 minor league games (61 starts). Gonzalez is the ranked as the ninth-best prospect in the Diamondbacks organization.

Mike Gosling is 2-2, 4.43 (36.1 IP - 24 ER) in seven starts with the Sidewinders this season. He is 25-8, 4.43 (339.1 IP - 167 ER) in 60 minor league starts. Gosling is the ranked as the 10th-best prospect in the Diamondbacks organization.
