OMAHA LANCERS WEEKLY RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: FEBRUARY 10, 2010
"HOCKEY NIGHT IN OMAHA" HIGHLIGHTS LANCERS BUSY WEEKEND
The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) face a trio of sub-.500 teams this weekend with aspirations of reclaiming the top spot in the West Division. Omaha (28-11-3, 59 Pts.) currently sits just two points back of first-place Fargo following a weekend sweep at the hands of the Force. The two losses in Fargo were the first back-to-back losses in regulation time for the Lancers this season. Omaha looks to get back into the win column tomorrow in its fourth meeting of the year with the Des Moines Buccaneers. Des Moines (16-21-4, 36 Pts.) is currently sixth in the West Division and is now a full 10 points back of Tri-City for the fourth and final playoff spot in the West. The Buccaneers snapped a five-game losing skid last Saturday with a 6-5 shootout win over the Lincoln Stars. Following an off day on Friday, the Lancers return home to the Omaha Civic Auditorium Saturday afternoon for their "Hockey Night in Omaha" match-up with the Chicago Steel. Like Des Moines, Chicago (15-20-5, 35 Pts.) enters USHL action this week five games below.500 and is currently in the midst of a four-game losing skid. Saturday's match-up pits the newest Lancer, Greg Wolfe, against his former team. Finally, Omaha's busy week concludes with a late Sunday afternoon get-together with the Youngstown Phantoms. It's the first meeting this season between Youngstown (14-24-2, 30 Pts.) and Omaha in the Phantoms inaugural season in the USHL. Youngstown is currently in the midst of both a six-game road losing streak and a seven-game overall losing slide.

NEWS & NOTES FOR THE WEEKEND
* For the first time this season, the Omaha Lancers enter the week looking up at someone in the West Division standings. The Lancers had held the top spot in the West through the first 20 weeks of the USHL campaign.
* For the first time in a long time, Lancers forward Matt White also finds himself looking up at someone in the USHL's overall scoring race. White is now 2nd among all USHL skaters with 63 points this season, one point back of Tri-City's Jaden Schwartz. White does continue to lead all USHLers with 25 goals.
* Omaha is 2-1 this season against both Des Moines and Chicago while the Lancers have yet to face Youngstown this season. Sunday's meeting with the Phantoms is the first of three get-togethers between the two teams over a span of just six days.
* Sunday's match-up with Youngstown is also the Lancers final home game until Wednesday, March 17th - a stretch of 31 days and eight road contests.
* The Lancers power play continues to pace all USHL clubs at 25.1% while Omaha's penalty kill has climbed to second overall at 85.7%. The Lancers have surrendered just one power play goal against over the last seven games and are 28-for-29 in man-down situations during that stretch.
