
Omaha Beef quarterback James McNear named Offensive Player of the Week

Omaha, NE - As a result of his excellent showing last Saturday in Bloomington, James McNear, quarterback for the Omaha Beef professional indoor football team, has been named Offensive Player of the Week by United Indoor Football.
McNear led the BEEF to a 47-29 over the Bloomington Extreme last Saturday at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. In the game, he completed 21 of 27 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 21 yards and two more touchdowns.
So far this season, McNear leads the team in rushing and passing. In terms of rushing, he has carried the ball 47 times for 291 yards, scored six touchdowns and is currently averaging 41.6 yards per game. McNear has also completed 100 of 159 passes for 973 yards and thrown 14 touchdown passes to nine different receivers.
McNear is in his second season with the BEEF and third in professional football. The native of Des Moines, Iowa, played his collegiate football at Concordia University-St. Paul in St. Paul, Minnesota for the Golden Bears. He received several honors while in college including being named a Northwest regional candidate for the Harlon Hill Trophy, which is given to the best player in all of Division II.
McNear and the BEEF will next be in action at home on Saturday when the Colorado Ice come to town for "Kids Night." The first 1,000 kids at the game will receive a set of 2008 BEEF trading cards. The following weekend, May 3rd, the Wichita Wild make their first trip to the Omaha Civic Auditorium on "Ladies Night."
The Omaha Beef opened their 2008 home season versus the Bloomington Extreme on March 15, 2008. All home games will be played at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
