Week Seven Players Of The Week Announced

Omaha, NE - James McNear, Shannon Poppinga and Anthony Baldwin have been selected as United Indoor Football (UIF) players of the week for their play in week 7 of the UIF season.

McNear, quarterback for the Omaha Beef, earns Offensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts in last week's game. In Omaha's 47-29 win over the Bloomington Extreme, he completed 21 of 27 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 21 yards and two touchdowns. This season, McNear leads the Beef in both of the rushing and passing categories. This weekend, he and his teammates return to the Omaha Civic Auditorium and will host the Colorado Ice Saturday evening.

Poppinga, defensive back for the Sioux Falls Storm, has been tabbed as Defensive Player of the Week. Last weekend, against the Billings Outlaws, he made a team-high 6.5 tackles and intercepted Chris Dixon, returning it 28 yards for a touchdown in the Storm's 54-43 win. This weekend, Sioux Falls makes their first-ever trip to RiverCity (St. Charles, Missouri) to take on the Rage Saturday evening.

Baldwin, defensive back for the Wichita Wild, is honored with Special Teams Player of the Week. He made a team-high eight tackles (two came on kickoffs) and also had a tackle for loss in the team's 22-15 win over the RiverCity Rage. This weekend, the Wild continue their five-game road trip by heading to Billings and will face the Outlaws Saturday evening at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark.
