LAST GAME:

The Oklahoma RedHawks beat the Fresno Grizzlies 9-6 Tuesday evening. Joaquin Arias paced the RedHawks with three hits, three runs batted in, and two runs scored. Oklahoma took a 2-0 lead when an Arias double plated Nate Gold and Ryan Roberts. Fresno would respond quickly, scoring three runs in the third and one in the fourth to take the lead, but Arias would help level the score at four apiece in his second at bat of the game. Roberts walked with two outs in the home half of the fourth, Arias followed with a triple, and scored on an error on the relay throw to third that went into the Oklahoma dugout. The RedHawks rallied for three runs in the seventh and two in the eighth and built a 9-5 lead. Jason Ellison, Jason Botts, and Drew Meyer knocked clutch base hits during the seventh and eighth innings to bring in the five Oklahoma runs. Kea Kometani (3-2) picked up the win in relief of starter Dustin Nippert.

FLYING SOUTH:

Marlon Byrd was activated off the disabled list by Texas yesterday. Byrd had been on the DL since April 17 with inflammation in his left knee. The outfielder played each day during the Fresno series, manning center in his first game, left in the next two, and serving as the designated hitter in Tuesday's win over the Grizzlies. Byrd hit .313 with five hits in 16 at-bats, knocking two doubles and driving in three.

METCALF RETURNS:

Travis Metcalf was optioned to Oklahoma yesterday when the Rangers ended Marlon Byrd's rehab assignment. Metcalf was with Oklahoma for one day last week but did not play after Texas sent him to the RedHawks for rehab while on the DL. The infielder was placed on the Rangers disabled list retroactive to March 21 with a torn left hamstring and was originally in the lineup on May 7 against Sacramento, a game that was rained out. He had surgery in March to repair the damage, and at the time was expected to miss six to eight weeks. Metcalf jumped from Double-A to the Major Leagues last season, and played 18 games for Oklahoma in August, hitting .148 with no home runs and six runs batted in. A corresponding roster move will be made to make room Metcalf.

MEMPHIS AT A GLANCE:

The Redbirds return home after a 5-3 roadtrip, splitting with Las Vegas and taking three of four in Tucson. Memphis scored 45 runs during their trip while allowing 31.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION:

Texas lost 4-3 to Seattle in 12 innings... Frisco beat Midland 11-5... Bakersfield upended High Desert 7-2... Clinton lost 11-3 at Beloit.

DOT-DOT-DOT:

Oklahoma has not scored in the first inning since May 5 in Tacoma, the final day of their last road trip... The pair of RedHawk runs in Tuesday's second inning marked the first time during the eight-game home stand that Oklahoma scored first in a game... Nelson Cruz has not played since May 9 against Sacramento (0-2 as the DH), and has not played the field since game two of last Thursday's doubleheader. That being stated, Cruz still leads Oklahoma in every major offensive category... The RedHawks have gone 6-10 against opponents from the Pacific Conference thus far this season.

TIME CHANGE:

The RedHawks have announced one time change that differs from the pocket schedules. Oklahoma's game on June 1 with Omaha is now slated for a 2:05 pm first pitch.

ON THE AIR:

Every game this season can be heard on the RedHawks Radio Network, led by broadcaster Jim Byers for the ninth season, and joined by Adam Marco during each homestand.
