Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry News Release

LAWTON, OKLA.-- The Oklahoma Cavalry professional CBA basketball team will hold a draft party for the 22nd Annual Continental Basketball Association College Draft Tuesday, September 25 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Best Western Lawton Hotel and Convention Center, 1125 E. Gore Blvd.

The draft party is open to the public, and everyone is invited to join the Oklahoma Cavalry as the team selects its players. Cavs merchandise will be available for sale along with a raffle for giveaway prizes. Fans will also have a chance to meet members from the Cavalry Dance Team, who will also be in attendance.

President/General Manager Otis Birdsong said he encourages everyone in the community to come out and be a part of Oklahoma Cavalry's first CBA Draft here in Lawton.

"The draft is important, because in the past teams have used the draft as a building block for success," said Birdsong.

Oklahoma Cavalry will have the first pick in all six rounds followed by Rio Grande Valley Silverados, East Kentucky Miners, Atlanta Krunk, Pittsburgh Xplosion, Butte Daredevils, Great Falls Explorers, Minot Skyrockets, Albany Patroons and Yakama Sun Kings. The draft order is based upon the final quarter point average during the 2006-07 regular season for the returning CBA teams. Expansion teams will have the first pick in the draft, and order is determined by announced entry into the CBA.

Players entered in this draft must have been eligible to be selected in the 2007 NBA Draft on June 28. The draft will be broadcast via teleconference to all CBA cities.
