Oilers Weekend Ends in 6-2 Loss to Brahmas

TULSA, OK - A weekend that began with so much promise for the Tulsa Oilers ended in a 6-2 loss to the Fort Worth Brahmas on Sunday afternoon in front of 4,252 at the BOK Center.

The Oilers struck first at 3:14 of the first period when Ryan Cramer banged in a powerplay goal at the side of the Brahmas' net. Fort Worth defenseman Greg Eskedjian, playing in just his third game since re-signing with the Brahmas, evened the score at the 14:31 mark when he re-directed an Austin Mayer pass by Tulsa goalie Shane Madolora.

With score still tied at 1-1 in the second period, Tomas Klempa's shot from the boards somehow got through Madolora to give the Brahmas their first lead of the afternoon. The Oilers answered back thanks a two-on-one rush by Mike Ullrich and Ryan Cramer. After Cramer's deke was denied by Kristofer Westblom, Ullrich slammed home the rebound to level the game at 2-2. The elation was short-lived. Off the ensuing face off, the Brahmas pushed the puck deep into Oilers territory and Chad Woollard found John Snowden wide open in the high slot. Snowden's blast rocketed past Madolora just 14 seconds after Ullrich had tied the game. Fort Worth took a 3-2 advantage into the third period and for the 23rd time this season, the Oilers found themselves trailing after 40 minutes.

Tulsa had an opportunity to tie the contest after Snowden was called for hooking at 12:18 of the third. Instead, it was the Brahmas who added to their lead. Another odd-man rush led to a tap-in goal by Adam Hogg and the 4-2 lead was more than enough insurance for the Brahmas. Snowden and Calin Wild scored a pair of goals just 27 seconds apart to inflate the final tally.

The Oilers have lost six straight to the Brahmas and fell to 2-6-1 in the season series. Tulsa has dropped three in a row at home and 15 of their last 17 overall.

The Oilers will take a few days off before traveling to Wichita on Friday to begin a set of three-games in three days against the Thunder.
